Brevity

If only for a moment

I feel at home in my skin,

for there is no opponent,

nothing to lose, much to win.

 

If only for a moment

I get to feel like a woman

rid of anger and resentment

and, above all, fully human.

 

If only for a moment

I feel loved, accepted, wanted,

cloaked by the serene sentiment

that a door has finally been opened.

 

If only for a moment

the light is off and the world is better,

a touch is worth every comment

so long as we write its last letter.
