Personal treasures

So this is what power feels like...

Rendering a man speechless
and reaching out to what's always been there
with nothing but your own eyes as witness
to your soul being stripped bare,
to your journey to what is meant to scare.

So this is what freedom must feel like...

Going your way, taking your time
as long as the job is done
and you have more than pantomime
with or without that one -
as long as you walk and don't run.

So this is what love looks like...

Knowing what it does to a woman,
yet another language to be learned
and spoken more carefully and softly than
any other for which your mouth burned.
A cycle forevermore repeated
of saying what the best chose, where it belonged.
